The innovative plant, that will be built in the industrial zone of Porto Marghera (VE) aims to decommissioned PV panels recycling to recover up to 87% of high purity raw materials, to be used as secondary raw materials such as silicon (critical raw material).

Plant parts

Automatic machine

Panel type recognition
Aluminum frame and junction box disassembly

Furnace and mechanical treatment

Recovery of copper strips, glass and photovoltaic cells

Ultrasound treatment

Photovoltaic cells treatment for silver recovery

The plant will treat 4.750 ton/year of e-waste, recovering about 700 tons of aluminum, 3.000 tons of glass, 33 tons of copper strips and 120 ton of silicon and 1.4 ton of silver.

The project is characterized by high automation and energy efficiency, being based on the EU-level patented 9-Tech technology.

The activities will improve the separate collection of panels in North-Eastern Italy (provinces of Venice, Treviso and Padua), shortly served by specialized consorptiums and without dedicated plants in order to recycle these kind of waste.

Once validated the technology at industrial scale, 9-Tech will replicate the plant in many other sites in Italy and abroad.
